The DNS client is part of the TCP/IP stack, I don't think you can install/reinstall it seperately. I can't diagnose without knowing the symptoms, but a quick way to reset your TCP/IP on XP SP2 is to go to a command prompt and type in: netsh interface ip reset temp.txt
